  3. The HP PictureScan software is designed for scanning pictures.  It can scan a page of text as a picture, but it cannot make it into a file that you can edit letter by letter.

  6. >  OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software programs are designed to scan a page of text into a format that can be edited using your word processing software.  A separate OCR software package was included in your set of HP scanning software.  Install that software and use it to scan the page of text.
